Next up in our Meet the Team series, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our Sales Specialists, Lindsay Penney. Here’s our interview with her.
Can you share your journey with streetside and in the home building industry so far?
My journey with StreetSide and the building industry begun at the same time and uniquely during covid. I started as the Online Sales Concierge (a brand-new role), after being temporarily laid off from my airline job. This role gave me the unique opportunity to learn about every community and development where StreetSide was building, as well as every floorplan, building style, price point and so on. I learned the CRM system inside and out, had the opportunity to speak with many potential clients, book them appointments and watch their buying journey from afar. You could say this role was almost a crash course into the new home sales industry.
In 2022 I made the move to sales and have had the opportunity to sell in our south communities for about 1 year before making the transition to the North where I have been now for over 2 years. I even had the chance to do a quick stint out in Harmony for about 5 weeks. It was fun to take everything I learned as the OSC and put it into practice in the show homes.
How have your experiences with streetside differed from your previous roles?
Well, I get to sit in a beautiful brand-new home every day and call it work which is pretty amazing!
I’ve had the opportunity to learn an entire new skill set working at StreetSide. I came from a very customer service focused industry which has helped me immensely in all of my roles at StreetSide, but I’ve been able to learn so much about sales, the sales process, changing markets, and the building process as a whole which I find very interesting.
Can you share about your personal philosophy on delivering high quality service to our customers?
My personal philosophy is to make every individual who walks into our sales center feel comfortable and at ease. Whether they are just browsing or ready to buy a home I want them to leave here feeling confident and excited. We work with a lot of first-time home buyers and buying a home can be stressful and scary. I strive to get to know people on a more personal level so they know they can come to me at any point, even if it is to say they will not be moving forward. I want all of our customers and potential customers to leave here feeling positive and happy.
How would you describe Streetside’s company culture and sales team’s dynamic?
StreetSide’s culture is fun and engaging. There is always a team building event, a lunch and learn, sales meeting or party in the works. This is a unique industry where the sales teams work all over the city and don’t see each other or corporate folks very often, yet we can ask questions, give opinions and ideas at any given time and be supported.
Can you tell us about a rewarding customer experience you’ve had in your role?
There are so many. As I mentioned we work with many first-time home buyers. It honestly brings me joy to see them go from nervous beginnings to the excitement of taking possession of their new homes. I love having the opportunity to really get to know them throughout the process.
