The Best Townhome Designs for Multi-Generational Living

Most people think they can only look at sprawling, single-family homes if they’re interested in having grandparents, parents, and children living together. However, this doesn’t have to be the case as townhomes can actually work well for large families.

Take a look at some of the following floor plans to see if they might meet your needs. With affordable prices and more space than you think, you may just find the home that’s right for you.

The Rosewood18.o in The Loop at Evanston

The Rosewood18.o is over 1,500 square feet and features two large patios on the ground level. These are the perfect spaces for hanging out with a few friends or relaxing with a good book. The garage can fit two cars in a tandem pattern, and there’s a storage room off the garage.

On the second floor, you’ll find the open-concept living space. There’s an eating bar in the kitchen for casual dining, but you’ll also have space for a proper dining table. There are several large closets on this floor and the big windows let in plenty of natural light. Include the optional desk for a nice work area in this room, and step outside on the balcony when you’re ready to relax.

The third floor offers privacy for everyone. The master suite has a large walk-in closet and a private ensuite. Those in the other bedrooms will share the main bathroom, but the larger bedroom has plenty of space for a double bed and has a walk-in closet. It’s easy to get laundry done with a washer and dryer on this floor.

The Carmine16.o in The Loop at Evanston

Though it’s slightly smaller at 1,333 square feet, the Carmine16.o has several of the same features, including a tandem garage with storage space, a balcony and patio, and a walk-in closet in the second bedroom.

The differences may make it more appealing for you, though. While the overall square footage is smaller, the living room in The Carmine is a bit more spacious, making it a great choice if you love to entertain.

Many people also prefer the location of the main bathroom on the third floor. The door to the bathroom is just outside the door to the second bedroom. It’s not quite an ensuite, but it’s still convenient.

The Carmine16.o is the three bedroom version of this model. It is also available in a two bedroom with a flex space configuration.

The Opal+ in The Townes at Redstone

With 1,450 square feet, the Opal+ has more space than you’d expect in a townhome. The main floor features the much-in-demand open concept design. You’ll especially like the size of the kitchen. It’s big enough for multiple chefs to be working on the meal together. The master suite is luxurious, and the secondary bedroom in this home also has a large walk-in closet and easy access to the main bathroom. The home is complete with a rear patio plus front and rear landscaping and detached garage.

The Jasper in The Townes at Redstone

The Jasper is slightly bigger at 1,460 square feet, but it offers a lot of benefits. You can welcome guests into your beautiful home through the well-designed foyer. It has an interesting open-concept layout with the kitchen at the centre of the main living area. At the back of the home is the spacious mud room where you can tuck away all the kids’ gear in the ample closet.

Best of all, all of the three bedrooms on the second floor are quite large. They can each fit a double bed, and the secondary bedroom has a very large walk-in closet. Your family will feel quite comfortable in this home.
